Società Agricola Rocca delle Macie

Rocca delle Macìe was founded in 1973. At that time, Italo Zingarelli—the film producer of Ettore Scola’s “C’eravamo tanto amati” and also of the highly successful series of films starring the duo Bud Spencer and Terence Hill—decided to crown his life’s dream of starting a winery in the heart of Chianti Classico by purchasing the Le Macìe property of which only two of its 93 hectares were planted with grapes.

Italo’s love and passion for the Tuscan land were passed down to his children Sergio, Sandra, and Fabio. In 1985, Sergio began working with his father. In 1989, when he took over running the winery, his wife Daniela started working with him. Since then, Sergio and his sister Sandra have been improving and developing their father’s winery, bringing it decisively to the world’s attention with wines that have won numerous awards in Italy and abroad.

Today the company has about 500 hectares. More than 200 hectares are planted with grapes, and about 22 have olive groves. It is divided among its six properties: Le Macìe, Sant’Alfonso, Riserva di Fizzano, and le Tavolelle in the Chianti Classico area, Campomaccione and Casamaria in the Maremma’s Morellino di Scansano area.

“Over forty years have passed since Italo Zingarelli bought Tenuta Le Macìe to fulfill his dream of producing a quality wine.”
Tenuta Le Macìe consists of 93 hectares, of which about 31 are planted with s grapes (Sangiovese, Cabernet, Sauvignon, and Merlot) and 13 with olive groves.
